mcgate turns 40 in 2020!
The Maryland Coalition for Gifted and Talented Education was founded in 1980 by a group of parent advocates. To honor our history and look to the future we will hold two main events in 2020.
Leadership & Advocacy Symposium, May 2, 2020
Anniversary Celebration Dinner with Guest Speaker, September 2020
Our Leadership and Advocacy Symposium will feature Dr. Jonathan Plucker, Julian C. Stanley Professor of Talent Development, School of Education, Johns Hopkins University as our keynote speaker. Breakout sessions will follow on topics related to excellence and equity in gifted education, parent and community advocacy, and state leadership in gifted and talented education. We will present our annual student essay contest awards. This symposium is for district GT specialists, administrators, educators, local GT parent advisory councils, parent and community advocates, and state leaders.
