Maryland Summer Centers Funding

In 2009 the Governor zeroed out funding for the Maryland
Summer Centers for the fiscal year 2010.  These
programs are the only state funding that directly serves
gifted and talented students.  This summer program has
been running for 43 years with the same level of funding
throughout all those years.  While we understand that
current economic times dictate difficult cost cutting
measures, it is critical that parents of gifted and talented
students continue to advocate for the reinstatement of
these funds as soon as possible.  Please see this
Maryland Summer Center Fact sheet for details on the
program and how to advocate for funding in future years.
